How does one approach the reading comprehension section on the Nursing Entrance Test? Many for one are unprepared for the wealth of reading that is required and the computerized method of testing. It can be difficult for those who are not computer savvy to comfortably navigate from page to another and go back to re-read. Time is of course of the essence in taking any test. The questions are at best hard to assimilate due to the ambiguous nature of the way that they are asked. This can be a stumbling block for those who are not prepared afore hand for the reading comprehension section of the Nursing Entrance Test.

Comprehension testing is very useful in improving reading comprehension, not only because it gives the teacher a measure of progress, but it supplements the reader's perception of his or her own ability. Learning readers commonly fail to accurately assess their own comprehension. A comprehension test can accelerate their ability to self assess their own comprehension levels as they progress. However, a poorly constructed reading comprehension test can deceive the learner and disturb progress. Indeed, it has been found that poorly constructed tests often train the reader to mis-assess their own reading performance.

Reading comprehension is best tested using carefully constructed questions which quiz natural or non-concocted passages of text. The questions themselves can be requests to summarize, open ended questions; Cloze formats, and carefully constructed multiple choice questions.

The multiple choice format must use questions that quiz the overall meanings of the text, the details and the most important meaning of the words. The background of the reader must be taken into account. For example, if an answer is general knowledge, then it will not measure the comprehension of the passage, but the memory of that knowledge. Likewise, the questions should not give clues to the answers of other questions. In this way it makes the multiple choice format hard to devise. Speed reading courses and books generally design their comprehension tests using the antithesis of these factors in order to mislead the reader into believing that their reading comprehension has improved with increased speed.

To sufficiently prepare for the type of questions that are asked one must practice reading passages and answering questions in a similar format. One of the pitfalls that students find when taking the reading comprehension, is that they have a hard time assimilating new knowledge and answering questions that have a high level of difficulty associated with them. Dr. Kimmel's software that also includes math preparation covers the important principals and assists the student in mastering key words when reading. Certain key words are typically used over and over again in reading comprehension questions. Words, and statements such as, the author assumed, inferred or the paragraph stated are key to understanding and grasping the questioning methodology.

Reading comprehension can be defined as the level of understanding of a passage or text. For normal reading rates (around 200-220 words per minute) an acceptable level of comprehension is above 75%.

Reading comprehension can be improved by: Training the ability to self assess comprehension, actively test comprehension using questionnaires, and by improving metacognition. Teaching conceptual and linguistic knowledge is also advantageous.

Self assessment can be conducted by summarizing, and elaborative interrogation, and those skills will gradually become more automatic through practice.

For children in K-12 public schools in the United States, building reading comprehension skills to pass the high-stake tests mandated by the No Child Left Behind Laws is a top priority. Many parents when informed that their children need to build comprehension skills do not know where to start. Effective reading comprehension is the culmination of mastering vocabulary, phonics, fluency, and reading comprehension skills. The reading skills pyramid illustrates how these skills are expected to be built in most public schools.

Reading comprehension skills separates the "passive" unskilled reader from the "active" readers. Skilled readers don't just read, they interact with the text. To help a beginning reader understand this concept, you might make them privy to the dialogue readers have with themselves while reading.

Skilled readers, for instance:

* Predict what will happen next in a story using clues presented in text
* Create questions about the main idea, message, or plot of the text
* Monitor understanding of the sequence, context, or characters
* Clarify parts of the text which have confused them
* Connect the events in the text to prior knowledge or experience

When answering questions on the Nursing Entrance Test, it is sometimes hard to relate concepts that seem totally unrelated. This type of questioning requires abstract thinking. Small Firms Boost on Bankruptcies

The first three months of 2007 saw an 8.8% rise in the amount of business failures; a sharp contrast to the same period in 2006 when the country saw its biggest rise in almost a decade.
The figures will be seen as good news for the small business sector, which has found itself under pressure in recent months from rising interest rates, new waves of employment legislation and higher energy bills.
The news that there were 430 fewer bankruptcies in the first quarter of this year should be welcomed, according to Experian, the credit-rating agency that carried out the survey. But it warned that small businesses could still face tough times ahead.
“This is the first fall in business failures during the quarter one period since 2004,” said Jo Howard, marketing director for Experian’s business information division. “However, while this fall should be welcomed, it needs to be treated with caution as past trends have shown us that dips in insolvency are often the calm before the storm, with the following quarter characterised by higher insolvency rates. This was true of 2006.
“In quarter three of 2006, there was also an improvement when business failures fell by 4.1% – followed by a 29.1% increase in the following quarter – the highest quarterly increase recorded since we started reporting. This pushed the overall increase in corporate insolvency for the year to 10.7%,” he added.
The biggest fall was in the number of businesses going into receivership, which accounted for 50.8% of the total fall, Experian figures showed. This was followed by voluntary arrangements (down by 16.8%), administration orders (down 11.8%) and voluntary liquidations (down 9.1%).
Of the 34 industries reviewed by Experian, seven recorded an increase in corporate failure, two remained unchanged and 25 recorded a decline.�The sectors experiencing a decline in business failures included textiles and clothing (down 30.3%), motor traders (27.5%), non-food retailing (6.2%), engineering (11%), banking and financial services (24.2%) and media (14.1%).�
However, instances of business failure actually increased in three areas of the country – the north-east (up 16.9%), Scotland (6.7%) and Northern Ireland (3.7%) – during the first three months of this year.

If you have thought about working from home you have probably thought how great it would be to wake up when you want, go on holiday when you want, and for how long you want.

There are several things that you must remember though. You have to be motivated. This is YOUR business and to get it off the ground you have to be willing to put in an equal amount of time and investment.

You can start part time around your current job and build it into a full time career, or you can run it as a hobby. It is your business so what you want to achieve from it is entirely up to you. But you need to have the right amount of expectations and the right level of commitment. There is no point in throwing money at your business if you have no time to do anything with it, you may as well just … well … invest it and see what happens. Also, on the other side of the coin, there is no point having hours and hours of available time, but you don't want to invest any money to realise your vision.

Goal Setting

Self motivation is one of the biggest key factors in working from home. There are so many more distractions that always seem to deserve your attention much more than working on your new business. It is important to treat your business like a multi million pound business from the start. Value it, give it the attention that it deserves and give it the time to grow.

Setting yourself goals is a great motivator. Before you start your business take an hour or two to think about what you want, what you truly want to achieve or work towards. It may be something like paying off your credit card bill, or even buying that boat you have always wanted. Pick something that is close to your heart and is really important to you, otherwise it just won't keep you motivated. Make sure you write it down and remind yourself everyday what you are working towards.

Personal Development

Keep yourself up to date with personal development. Be inspired by the success of others. Learn and gain skills from others who talk and have written from personal experience.

Read lots. Get your mind open to thinking in different ways. It may only take one small change for everything to click in place.

OK, so you have made the biggest decision of all and have decided to work from home. So what do you do now? What area of working from home do you want to do and can you do? There is no right or wrong business to get involved in, or one solution. It is all down to the individual as everybody’s circumstances are different.

There are many different options, and you will no doubt have to learn a whole new different set of skills to achieve your goals. But don't let this put you off. There are many businesses that you can join, run as your own business and get the full support and mentoring and all the tools to help you start up. A bit like a business in a box. You have to supply the commitment, time and investment, but the business is still your own.

What you don’t want to do is to jump into a business with your eyes closed. Working from home sounds ideal - and it can be. But there are also some facts that should be considered:

There is no secure income. You will get paid for the work you put in - there is no wage involved.

It may take you several months to begin working at a profit.

You will need to develop good time management. Although you can take a break and a day off whenever you want, remember if you don’t do the ground work on your business, the chances are you won’t have one.

Don’t start out with unrealistic income expectations. You will only be disappointed if you do not reach them. This may lead to you losing steam in your business before it has really got going.

Do you want a solely internet based business or do you want an on and off line business?

Is it a one-tier programme or a 2-tier programme?

All affiliate programmes are one or two tier programmes. A one tier programme is where you sell an item and receive a percentage of the profits for that sale. With a two-tier programme you can also make a commission for each sale that you refer. You can also promote the affiliate programme to customers and subscribers where you can then make a commission of all the sales they then make.

You may also want to check if your commission is a one-off commission or a residual commission. A residual commission is often payable on used-up items that customers need to re-order or pay a monthly fee for, like web hosting sites, health-supplements, flowers etc.

The content and structure of your website will mean the difference between a successful business and an unsuccessful one. Think of it like walking into a shop and finding half the stock on the floor that you have to rummage around. All you need to do is type in a keyword, like shoes, and it will tell you how many people have search that word the previous month, and also other related keywords and how often they were search for to. One way to get the cost down on your keywords is to choose words that are more targeted. If you check how many people searched for shoes you will find a number not far off 550000. That is a lot of competition, and it would probably mean that there is a high cost per click on that keyword. If you choose something like wedding shoes, running shoes or red shoes, (providing you sell those items) you will find that the number of people searching for it is less, and will be more targeted.

This is one area that you should not skimp on. You have spent all that money and effort on advertising your product, so don’t ruin the after sales experience for your customer. If they have a query, answer it promptly and honestly and politely. Resale rights products come in all different shapes and sizes. Some come in the form of a great number of products bundled together and then sold for some ridiculously low price. Others are a single product sold for a four figure sum. On top of that there are the different types of rights mentioned above.

For starters, there are your basic resale rights. These only give you the right to sell the product and nothing else. You can't claim that the product is your own and you can't grant another person resale rights for this product. These rights are usually the cheapest to get. This makes it easier to get into the black. In many cases the rights are free. These rights usually have a fixed price and terms for sale. In other words if the product sells for $10 you can't sell it for more or less money. If you're buying rights to the product, make sure you understand it well enough before you sell it as there are bound to be support questions coming your way.

Master resale rights are a little more involved. These usually come with a web page to go along with the product. They'll give you the right to sell the product and also to pass along resale rights of this product to your customers. The products with the best master resale rights are the ones that contain a zip file that has everything you need to put on your download page.

Then there are private label rights, of which there are basically two kinds. The first type is where you are given resale rights for the finished product and also allowed to put your name on it as author of the product. However, you are not allowed to change the product in any way. All you are allowed to do besides sell the product is put your own name on it. But it must stay absolutely unaltered from its original state.

The second type of private label rights is what is called source code rights. The product itself is not finished and ready to sell. It is actually the raw source code that you can use to produce a finished item. If it is a program, like an ad blaster, it will be in source code format. If it is an informational product, like an ebook, it will usually come in the form of a Microsoft Word document or some other word processor format. This product can be changed in any way you like, including turning it into a product that grants certain resale rights of any of the type mentioned. You are limited only by your own imagination.

Industrial plants currently under construction in the U.S., has increased by approximately 33 percent, from $60 billion to $88 billion. Correspondingly, the number of plants under construction has increased from 601 to 656 in the past eight months according to a survey of Grassroot U.S. industrial plant construction.

When completed, these plants will add more than 111,000 new hourly and salaried manufacturing jobs. The Mid-Atlantic Region, which includes the states of West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina and the District of Columbia, will add the most new manufacturing jobs, with 28,995 from 70 new industrial plants. The Great Lakes Region has almost twice as many new plants under construction as the Mid-Atlantic Region with 138, but these plants will result in fewer employees - 23,902.
Grassroot plants are defined as plants that are being constructed from the ground up, with no previous site improvements. Plants under construction include projects that have achieved financing, board approval and have broken ground or begun civil/site preparation activities. Once construction is under way, there are various milestones that are achieved along the way including civil/site prep, structural erection, building construction, mechanical/equipment installation, electrical/instrumentation, insulation/coatings and start-up testing, to name a few. Once a plant is commissioned and is operational, it is no longer considered under construction.

According to Brian Devine, the Division VP for ProLogistix, “The increase of the plant production has had a terrific impact on the growth of ProLogistix over the past few years.
