Corporate Gift Giving Etiquette - What to Give, When and How - a Small Business Perspective

Description:

No matter how you define it, motivating and rewarding can be powerful tools, especially for small businesses whose results are generated mostly by people's performance.

Content:

No matter how you define it, motivating and rewarding can be powerful tools, especially for small businesses whose results are generated mostly by people's performance.

Congratulate: a new promotion, a new baby, a wedding, the opening of a new office, the completion of a major project, meeting a deadline

Celebrate: a birthday, a business or personal anniversary, a holiday, a retirement, a new job, a successful project or proposal

Motivate: for difficult personal or business goal, an unpleasant task, boring work, problem solving, coming up with an idea

Promote: yourself, your product and services, colleagues, referrals for new business

Thank: for business, hard work, extra help, working overtime, opening doors for you

Cheer: during a serious illness or hospitalization, when a deal falls through

Apologize: for missing an important meeting or deadline

Above all, do not forget that one person's great gift can be another's horror story. To make sure your gifts are memorable In a good way and appropriate, learn some basic gift giving etiquette.up

1. Giving gifts year round to reward performance, results and to motivate, will have more impact than simply waiting to do so at the end of the year, where your gift will compete with many others.
2. Do not drop your gift program because of a weak economy. Your team needs the most motivation when times are bad.
3. Set goals for gift giving. Do you want to recognize employees? Thank customers for their business? Celebrate a company anniversary or milestone? Do not start giving unless you have a clear goal.
4. Make sure that the recipient's company policy allows gift acceptance. If that is a concern, send items that can be shared within the office such as: gourmet gift basket, industry trade magazine subscriptions, charity donations etc.
5. Find time to find meaningful, thoughtful gifts that fit the recipient. Do not assume that everyone likes things that you like. Keep in mind cultural, dietary and religious restrictions. Gifts should not be lavish or very expensive, but appropriate, timely and of good quality.
6. What you give is a reflection on you and your organization, so avoid sending inappropriate, tasteless, offencive gifts.
7. Try to include a personal note with every gift you send. Use a custom card and state briefly your purpose for sending the gift, offering your best wishes. A custom designed note card (4x6) will cost you around $99 for 500 but it will be highly appreciated.
8. Deliver gifts in person when you can, otherwise send gifts priority or express mail.
9. Consider the presentation since the first impressions are always important. Even expensive items might not have the effects you expect them to if they are presented in a tasteless way. Consider adding your company's logo on the paper and ribbon.

You Can Prepare for Your Job Interview With Confidence

Description:

Tips to prepare yourself for a job interview.

Content:

The hour that you spend in your job interview could be the most important hour that you ever spend. This is because your job interview is the time frame that you have to get that job that you really want. But you need to have some winning strategies in place so that when you're sitting in that interview room you put every minute to good use. You need to be as prepared as you can for any number of questions that come your way and you need to have the right answers at your fingertips so that you exude self confidence and credibility.

One of your main goals in your job interview is to stand out from the rest of the people who are applying for the same position. One of the ways that you can do this is by finding out as much as you can about the company that you want to work for and the position that you're applying for. The more knowledgeable you sound about the job that you want the better the impression you'll leave with your interviewer.

During your interview avoid using words that sound unprofessional such as "cool" and "awesome". Most companies are looking for a professional attitude and this attitude should be displayed in your job interview to show your seriousness about getting the job. Try to be as prepared as you can for the interview by guessing at some of the questions you'll be asked and coming up with some answers. There are some questions you can be sure that you'll be asked, such as "why do you want this job". Try to come up with something better than the standard answer which most interviewees will give. Be unique in your presentation so that you leave an impression that is going to be remembered.

When you're asked to talk about yourself try to limit your response time to about a minute. You want to talk too much about yourself yet you also don't want to give too little information about who you are. It's important that you listen to your interviewer so that you show that you have listening skills as well as speaking skills. Interviewers want to see a well rounded individual in front of them who is ready to tackle all aspects of the job. Your interview is your chance to score a few points. Try to slip in a few comments about work ethics and team work to show that these ideas aren't foreign to you.

Euro Apparel Fashion Goes Off the Rail

Description:

It seems that the love affair between European consumers and fashion has gone cold according to new research from Verdict. The EU’s population is finding more attractive alternatives to spend its hard earned cash on than clothing and competition between the various clothing retailers of Europe is intensifying

Content:

Across the progressively enlarging EU, per capita spend has barely risen despite the fact that average earnings have increased. Europeans are finding the allure of technology (the latest TVs, MP3 players, mobile phones and computers of various shapes and sizes) and property, increasingly attractive. Verdict says that the combination of space growth, an aging population and muted fashion trends have helped to dampen the attractions of fashion: increasingly, consumers are making do with what they already have in their wardrobes.

While growth across the EU as a whole is extremely unexciting, this is far from being a uniform picture. The biggest and most sophisticated markets of Germany, the UK, France and Italy are showing some of the flattest demand patterns. However, a very different story emerges from the smaller and often more recent recruits to the EU. There is a clear message to the expansion-hungry fashion retailers from the more mature markets: if you want to be able to move into the fast lane of retail sales growth, you may well have to look to the East where the growing EU fashion markets are less saturated and consumer appetites have yet to be sated.

Verdict Research reports the average spend per head on clothing in EU member states was £ 430 or € 630 in 2006, creating a total market value of £ 199 bn or € 292 bn. But the amount the average person spends varies dramatically by country.

In Slovakia, for example, average spend per head is just £ 71 (€ 104) – the lowest in the EU – however this figure is growing quickly. Since 2001, annual clothing expenditure per capita has risen by an extra £ 19 or € 27 per person – more than 25 %.

Meanwhile combined clothing sales through the ten new member states (Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia), jumped by more than a fifth between 2001 and 2006, from £ 6.4 bn or € 9.3 bn to £ 7.7 bn or € 11.3 bn.

Among the major markets, Italy upholds its reputation for style with top spend at £ 602 or € 883 per person followed by the UK at £ 556 or € 815. However, it seems Italians have revised their budget. When compared to the UK for example, where average spend per head has risen by £ 38 or € 55 over the last five years, in Italy the figure has actually fallen by £ 19 or € 28 from £ 622 or € 911.

Slow or negative growth is evident across all the six major EU clothing markets: Between them, these countries account for £ 4 out of every £ 5 spent on clothing in the EU, but combined sales in these markets rose by just 3.9 % in the five years to 2006. As a result, retailers in the top six markets - Germany, Italy, the UK, France, Spain and the Netherlands, are increasingly looking abroad for new opportunities to grow.

Leading Continental retailers have already made major inroads into international markets. The top five non-UK clothing retailers in the EU: Inditex, H&M, C&A, Benetton and Cortefiel have on average half of their EU stores in non-domestic markets.

UK retailers pale in comparison to such figures. Despite all being large enough to rank in the Top 10 EU clothing retailers, the Top Five UK clothing retailers have just 17 % of their EU stores located outside the UK. UK retailers have only recently turned their focus onto serious investment in international operations and need to make inroads quickly if they want to catch up with their Continental rivals.

Across the EU, the market remains highly fragmented. Inditex holds the highest share of the EU clothing market with just 2.5 % of the market value, followed by H&M. Marks & Spencer takes third place, but the vast majority of its clothing sales are from a single market – the UK.

New to the Job Hunting Marketplace? . . . Follow These 6 Success Rules!

Description:

Before you even get to your resume . . . and before you prepare for your first interview . . . there are some basic rules that can be overlooked to your peril.

Content:

If you're a recent grad . . . or you're getting ready to hit the job hunting marketplace . . . you better know and understand the rules. Practicing them will dramatically upgrade your response rate. Ignore them and you lose!

There's a lot been written about how to prepare a job hunting resume and how to conduct an interview. Refer to the website mentioned at the end of this article for tons of free information on these important issues. However, before you even get to the resume . . . and before you prepare for your first interview . . . there are some basic rules that can be overlooked to your peril.

1. Make sure your voicemail greeting sounds professional. It's a major turnoff to employers trying to reach you to encounter some sophomoric announcement that you think is cute.

2. Likewise, don't use an email address that you think is so clever. It's probably not the first impression you want to leave with an employer trying to reach you. For the purposes of your job hunting, set up something simple like your first and last names.

3. On the subject of emails, make sure you carefully proofread. Not shortcuts or symbols you might use with close friends. Instead use the same rules of punctuation and grammar you'd use if you were writing a letter.

4. Make sure your cell phone is turned off before you go into an interview. Nothing interrupts the flow of a good interview than your cute ringtone!

5. Dress conservatively. Match your dress to the expectations of the organization you're talking to. In any case, no jeans, t-shirts, low necklines or sandals--even if you're talking to some hip dot.com company.

6. Be sure to send a carefully crafted thank you letter. In it you should summarize the particular strengths and capabilities you can bring to the table.

Look, heading into the job hunting marketplace when you're new to it is never easy. And there are many other important rules to master. Fortunately there's a fast and easy alternative job search system that can have you talking to your next boss in a matter of days. In the meantime these basic rules can help you launch your job campaign correctly.

A Career In The Cleaning Services Industry

Description:

When things get dirty, there is always someone to clean up. There is someone willing to clean for other people, people they don't even know. No on likes to clean up after making a mess, so people prefer to hire someone who would do it for them. While it is a menial job for some, but there are many who take pleasure in serving others.

Content:

Irrespective of the location, whether it is polishing the floor in a restaurant or washing the windows of a 747, it is easy to get into the cleaning industry at various levels. Housekeeping jobs are suitable for those who are looking for short-term jobs. However, housekeeping jobs have repetitive tasks, and involve a pre-planned routine. The garbage removal and hospital housekeeping career is more stable, and can last for years.
There are numerous job openings in the cleaning industry, providing far better options to choose from, including disaster clean up, upholstery and carpet cleaning, eavestrough cleaning and window washing. Cleaners also carry out wastewater restoration, removal of industrial toxins, and cleaning out plugged sewer pipes after using televised inspection devices.

Requirements

The cleaning industry is divided into two sectors, consumer and commercial. Cleaning crews and house cleaners are hired to clean offices, hotel hallways, rooms, bathrooms etc. You may want to combine the two depending on your preferences. Applying and getting a job in the industry greatly depends on what services you can offer. Keeping the customer happy is an underlying requirement to help the business thrive.

A set of predefined rules and regulations are set down for the employees before they start the job in any organization. The employees are expected to follow these rules, as customer satisfaction depends on how well the cleaning staff does its work. Usually, customers don't visit a particular hotel or restaurant again if the service they received isn't satisfactory. This directly affects the business as well as the reputation of the employees. However, both the customer and the managing department should know their limitations. To prevent any kind of conflict, the client should be given a clear idea about the working of the management.

Some people opt for independent work, if they have a thorough knowledge of the working of the industry, and ample experience to take up jobs on their own. Others decide upon franchising. In which case, they can set their own rules and administer the working on their own, without consulting any outer managing company.

Options In The Cleaning And Service Industry

The service industry has grown over the years, and it is no longer limited to housecleaning tasks. Here are some of the jobs available in this industry:

Building Superintendent - Cleaning and maintaining the surroundings of a business. Co-ordinate renovations and repairs, team up with tenants and owners to maintain a safe environment. They earn about $12,110 to $66,440 per year.

Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner - Gauge the nature of the job and administer the cleaning accordingly. Cater to customer needs and develop a healthy rapport with the customer. They can work on an hourly or commission basis.

Hazardous Waste Management Technologist - This is an industrial job, and the knowledge of machines and petrochemical companies is needed. On the job training, and post secondary education is the minimum experience and education required for this job.

Cleaning, by its nature, is not a "clean" job. If it were, the need for house cleaners would never arise. People would happily scrub grime off from floors without complaining. Every industry and organization needs cleaning and maintenance from time to time. This is the reason the industry has grown and prospered over the years. There are said to be more avenues opening up in the near future.

Outline of How to Start an Internet Business

Description:

So you're contemplating about starting an internet business and making money online? You need an outline to plan your business.

Content:

So you're contemplating about starting an internet business and making money online? You need an outline to plan your business. That way you can start it without trouble and efficiently. Lack of planning is a common cause of failure, so this is important.

1) Planning Your Business

• What kind of business would you like to start? Do you want to create your own product and sell it? What about becoming an affiliate marketer? Perhaps you want to open your own online store, or sell things in eBay? There are a lot of options, so pick what you like best. You’re going to be working on it for a while.

• After you decide on what kind of business to start, you have to think about the start-up capital and other expenses associated with your business. You need to pay for web hosting and a domain name for a website. Are you going to create your own site or pay to have one made for you? How much money are you willing to pay for advertising? Be sure you are aware of your business's costs and how much it takes to break even.

• Make sure you have a strategy on advertising your business. Will you use ezine marketing, classified ads, or paid advertisements on a high traffic site? How will you drive a steady stream of targeted visitors to your site? Search engine optimization should be a top priority for you.

Now that you have your business planned, you have to start your business. Buy a domain name and set up your site.

2) Starting Your Business

• Once your business site is set up, it is time to start promoting your business. Post in forums related to the main topic of your site, with a link to your site in your signature (follow the forum’s TOS and don’t spam). Tell people you know who might be interested in it. You may want to start article marketing by writing articles and submitting them to article directories, with a link to your site in the resource box. Start building those links.

• If you learn a little HTML, you can edit and update your site to your heart's content. While it may seem like an entirely new language to you, there are free tutorials all over the internet. I personally learned HTML by playing with my sites, changing things around to see what happened, etc.

• If you have a sales letter for your product, it is to your advantage to learn how to get inside people’s heads, make them want to read your sales letter and buy your product, etc. Learn to use words that will appeal to your visitors' minds. Or you could just hire a copywriter; it’s your choice.

• Learning the basics, tips and tricks of internet marketing is an absolute necessity if you want your business to succeed. Read every free ebook you can find, read internet marketing articles and participate in forums about internet marketing. There are always new techniques and strategies being used as time goes on. A lot of what you will learn is from personal experience, making mistakes and learning from them.

So now that your business is started you can just sit back and watch the money roll in, right? Wrong. You have to maintain your business to make sure it survives.

3) Maintaining Your Business

• Set up a schedule for yourself that balances your internet business and your life in the outside world. You must commit a reasonable amount of time for your business so that it does not falter. Keep building links, writing articles, exchanging links with other sites, or learning new things to help your business. Build up a good reputation for your business and earn your visitors' trust.

• It is a good idea to update your site regularly with fresh, unique content. Not only will it keep your visitors coming back to read your new content, but the search engine spiders will come back to your site more often to find your new content. As they say, content is king. You can add new articles, reviews, etc. to your site, or upload a blog to your site and update that regularly.

• You should consider having an e-mail list for your business. Set up an autoresponder with messages to follow up on people who opt-in to your list, and be sure you do not spam. Ever hear the saying that "the money is in the list"? Well it is the people that you establish a personal contact with that will be more likely to buy from you.

From here on out, it is up to you to write the rest of your business plan. I can only tell you so much of what to do with your business. Once you start your business, it is entirely up to you to profit from your business. You can make your own outline for your business, since you will know your business better than anyone. Do not stop planning for the future, and keep working and learning new things.

Innovation - not Registering Patents But Achieving Leadership Positions

Description:

Ever wondered what exactly is innovation? or How should you achieve these objectives? or even how you can you differentiate yourself from your competitors? Look no further. Read this article written by one of the well respected corporate observers and up coming strategy consultant Sajin Nair

Content:

Sajin Nair

Most entrepreneurs spend 16-18 hours working on their laptops, taking calls and spending lot of hours with different department heads to improve the business results. They spend lot of hours in improving their processes in the hope that one day they would be able to improve their productivity and satisfy their customers. Hoping they would soon become a market leader.

I feel sorry for Department Heads who spend long hours again with their team members to tell them why they need a process and how it would help them to achieve their objectives. But Entrepreneurs hardly realize that what makes a difference is Innovation.

Exactly, Eye En En Vee Oo Tee Eye Oo En, Innovation. What is Innovation? Just finding a new way to do things? Getting more and patents? Investing more and more in R & D without any objective? No absolutely not. These are different activities in the process of Innovation.

So what exactly is Innovation? Innovation is definitely not introducing something new but introducing something which would take the business one step further. What I mean to say is that anything new that gets introduced is not Innovation. Its just a part of the process of achieving Innovation. Innovation is only achieved when it directly adds value to the businesses not trial and error method though that’s one of the most important aspects of the process of achieving innovation.

What exactly should businesses do? Businesses should employ processes defined very clearly with respect to objectives and goals. This should be a very small team of qualified professionals who can think out of box and are not influenced by existing processes, culture or anything for that matter. This team should be very fresh with ideas under the guidance of one dedicated expert who can lead them successfully.

Once you have a set up something like this then you can have these people working on one aspect of your business and ask them to come up with different strategies. The leader needs to understand that this would only be an idea and he actually needs to take care of implementation and marketing strategies within the organization. The reason why he should be responsible is because no one else in the organization should have understood the existing culture better than him and he can subtly implement it without many objections.

These strategies should have the power of improving the business, make positive impacts on the customer and strongly differentiates you from your competitors. When you very clearly see the changes in the lives of people, customers or vendors then you can say we are innovative unless then you are just in process of achieving innovation.

Personal Goals – the Sure Path to Success

Description:

Just as business sets its goals through a Strategic Business Plan, there is no road to personal success but through a clear, strong purpose, and the progressive achievement of goals.

Content:

Bob Pearce

When we are young, and every hour of our time is important, our environment has a large effect upon us, and helps to set our course in life, or our goals. Those things which we have not had become more important to us than the things we have had, or experienced. Those who succeed have developed a burning desire to do so, despite all handicaps. They know exactly what they want. They think about it constantly and it drives them throughout every day. They have a vision, a dream, or a goal, invisible to everyone but those holding it, and it is responsible for every great advance or achievement of mankind.

It is said that anything the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve. We become what we think about, and when we think about an exciting goal, we can reach it. A goal is an individual thing, as individual as the person themselves. A goal can be many things – material wealth, sporting prowess, teaching success, joy and satisfaction from helping others – there are millions of different goals, all worthy in their own right. One thing a goal must do is to fill us with positive emotion when we think about it. It must be something we badly want to bring about. The more intensely we feel about it or think about it, the greater it will become buried in our subconscious, and we will be directed towards it.

Whatever our goal happens to be, if we stay with it, and remain fully committed to it, we WILL reach it. It is estimated that only about 5% of the population achieve unusual success, attributable to their own efforts. Those 5%, who have taken the time and exercised the discipline to drive their own lives in the direction of their chosen goal, will progressively reach each step towards it, and accomplish more in a few years than most achieve in a lifetime.
The better, the more clearly our goal is defined, the more real it becomes to us, and more attainable. WRITE down everything you can think of that you would really like to see come about in your life. Then go over the list and NUMBER the items in order of preference. Then MAKE the one at the top of your list your first goal. Think about it, concentrate on it and you will become what you think about. The thinking must be orderly and clear, and if the goal is important enough for you to reach, the reach it you will.

One goal at a time, that is very important. Most people unwittingly don’t concentrate on a single goal long enough to reach it before they are off on another track that confuses them and they start making excuses as to why they have not achieved something. So DECIDE upon your goal. THINK about it every morning and night, and as often during the day as you conveniently can. By doing this you will actually begin moving towards it and bringing it closer. When you CONCENTRATE your thinking and ACHIEVE one goal, it becomes a HABIT that will take you from one SUCCESS to another throughout your life.

How To Double Your Income From Your MLM Leads

Description:

Should you join more than one MLM opportunity? This has been a hotly debated topic among MLM trainers. Some say yes and some say no. There are legitimate reasons on both sides of the debate. Let's examine them.

Should you join more than one MLM opportunity? This has been a hotly debated topic among MLM trainers. Some say yes and some say no. There are legitimate reasons on both sides of the debate. Let's examine them.

Those who say that you should only promote one MLM opportunity are generally the old school phone and in person MLM people. They do have a legitimate concern. If you are promoting more than one opportunity your prospect will get confused and your sales message will get diluted resulting in little to no downline in either opportunity.

Those MLM experts that are in favor of joining multiple companies are generally the internet recruiters who point out that by joining multiple companies, you can make multiple sales off of the same lead and you can in fact make more money.

So, should you join more than one company or not? Both sides have legitimate concerns. Yes, you can join more than one MLM company, but it must be done carefully. There are several people within the MLM industry that are on the leaderboard in multiple opportunities, so yes it can be done.

The way to do it is by promoting yourself first before the opportunity. As you build an email list, you can make multiple offers to your list and that includes multiple MLM programs. If you are directly promoting your pre made MLM corporate website, you will lose focus and you will fail in both opportunities.

If you do not have the ability to make a mailing list, the next best solution is to use one of the many pre made downline builders on the market today. New software has resulted in an explosion in downline builders. If you have the time and expertise, you will make the most money by creating your own downline builder program. However, most people do not have the time or expertise to make their own downline builder. If that is the case, then you should plug into one of many solutions already on the market.

Talk to your upline to see what program they recommend. If they don't know of one, search around and you will quickly find several to choose from. Once you have a downline builder that you like, you should then recommend that your team join the downline builder as well. By having your team all on the same downline builder, you will have access to a common training system, make more money and have greater duplication. Plugging into a downline builder is something that even newbies can do, which will result in greater success and lower downline turnover.

As you can see, you can make money with multiple MLM programs if you choose wisely and plug into existing systems. When you do this well, your income will soar.

It can be tough for business people with OCD to have to experience obsessive thoughts that are intrusive, scary, and difficult to manage. As a result, here is a short list of techniques that a person can use to help manage their obsessive and fearful thoughts.

The first thing a person must do is not to dwell or focus on the fear provoking thought when it comes. The more a person tries to reason out the thought or focus on the fear behind the thought, the stronger the thought becomes. The next time you encounter an obsessive thought, get into the practice of not dwelling on it.

From my interviews with various professionals, I've learned that usually it is the fear behind the thoughts that gets us worked up. Ignore the fear behind these obsessive thoughts, regardless how the strong the fear may be. If you ignore the fear behind these thoughts, then the thoughts become easier to manage.

A person should visualize a red stop sign in their mind when they encounter a fear provoking thought. When the negative thought comes, a person should think of a red stop sign that serves as a reminder to stop focusing on that thought and to think of something else. A person can then try to think of something positive to replace the negative thought.

Sometimes, a person may encounter a lot of scary thoughts coming at them all at once. Instead of getting upset, remember that these thoughts are exaggerated and are not based on reality. Even if your fearful thoughts tell you otherwise, the fact is that there are circumstances and factors in every situation that can not be anticipated. We may be ninety-nine percent in predicting the future but all it takes is for that one percent to make the biggest difference.

Although I am a Layman and not a professional, I have interviewed many counselors and I learned that there are many ways to deal with these kinds of thoughts. There are ways to deal with your obsessive thoughts and with the proper treatment, you can live a productive life.

5 Tips In Building Your Home Business Online

Description:

As more and more people begin starting their own home business, the Internet will play a key role in your success. Whether you're starting a home business in direct sales, or MLM, you can use the power of the Internet to build a large and successful business, and put more money in your bank account. Here are 5 quick tips to build your home business through the Internet, and they're all absolutely free!

Content:

Everyone wants to make more money and become successful in their own home-based business, that's a given. But for most people, they simply don't know how to do it. How do I get people to my website? What methods really work? You may be asking yourself many of these same questions right now.

As more and more people begin starting their own home business, the Internet will play a key role in your success. Whether you're starting a home business in direct sales, or MLM, you can use the power of the Internet to build a large and successful business, and put more money in your bank account.

One of the best things about building your business online is that it's not difficult to do, and it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg either. Here are 5 quick tips to build your home business through the Internet, and they're all absolutely free!

1. Use a signature file. By simply putting a signature file at the bottom of your emails you will get people going to your website. Be sure to use your sig file on every email you send out. It's simple to set up, and if you aren't using one yet, you will want to do so immediately.

2. Participate in online forums. They are a great way to have a lot of traffic going to your home business website. Find a few forums you like and get registered. Participate in the forum and help answer other people's questions. By doing so you will show yourself as an expert in your field, and someone who has credibility.

The other benefit is that every post you make will contain your website link. People can click on your link and see what business you're involved in. There could literally be hundreds and even thousands of people viewing a particular thread posted in a forum. Search engines also index forum threads. This can give you an incredible amount of free traffic.

3. Put out a press release. Do you know you can write a press release about yourself and your company, and have it indexed by the search engines? Search engines will also index your press release. The result? Tons of traffic going to your website and finding out more about your business. Companies like PRWeb.com will even put out your press release for free. There is no cost for this excellent marketing method! I would encourage you to write one up as soon as possible. The results can be phenomenal.

4. Write an article. Writing articles about the home business industry is another great way to get prospects going to your website. For example, you could write an article about auto-responders, or how to generate leads for your home business, etc. There are hundreds of different topics you could write about.

Then, at the end of the article you add an authors box where you can put information about yourself and your business, including a link to your website. Next, you submit the article to different article directories for distribution to thousands of websites that will put the article on their site, or in their e-Zine. You'll be amazed at the amount of traffic you will get to your site from writing articles.

5. Put those junk emails to work. We all get those unwanted junk emails every day. You know, the ones telling us about how we can make $10,000 a week, or retire in 30 days. Turn those emails into prospects for your business. Send them back a pre-written introduction about you and your home business. This method works. Many people have sponsored others in their home-based MLM or direct sales business using this tip.

There is great money to be made by using online methods in building your home business. Isn't it time you started getting your share of it?

Are You Marketing Your MLM to the Right People?

Description:

Many people fail in MLM or network marketing, because they shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Content:

One of the reasons why I believe MLM gets a bad name and is accused of hype - is that MLM or network marketing is promoted to the wrong people about 80% of the time. It's promoted as a part-time work at home job to people who really just want a steady pay and flexible hours.

1) Network marketing is not a job. It is a business system for entrepreneurs who want to have their businesses at home instead of another location, like an office. The vast majority of networkers still promote MLM as "You can make thousands of dollars in just a few hours a week"! You can do that...just not right away. Depending on your company, your experience, budget, and business system that could take 90 days or 9 months. People who want at-home jobs expect to be paid a set amount of money every week. It's call a paycheck, not an override.

2) A home business takes heart, energy, perservence and a degree of risk. In a business, you are responsible for your success, no one else. A work at home job takes only time and energy. People wanting at-home jobs are not prepared for the responsibility of a business because it's not what they want. All the motivational tapes and contests will not matter if they don't want it in the first place.

3) Why doesn't your new distributor want to make a prospect list? Probably because a home job doesn't require him/her to create his/her own work by creating a client base. Entrepreneurs intuitively understand the need for prospecting. Home-based employees do not. They will however, gladly help you take care of YOUR prospects.

4) Is your new distributor who is turned off by talk of goal-boards, dreams, or vision-casting? A job doesn't require that kind of mental or emotional energy. There is no "big picture" or the "whole story" in a job. If you marketed your opportunity in terms of a job, you will have distributors that won't come to meetings, listen to conference calls or do any of the training. Why? Because they want a job, not a business!

5) A home-job is defined. Even with "action plans" or "success blueprints" home-businesses are open-ended by nature. You cannot guarantee how many appointments you will set, how many orders you will get that day and so on. You can only guarantee your activity level, not the result of each indvidual action.

If you want distributors, market to entrepreneurs. Do not hide your opportunity under "help wanted" or work-at-home ads. As you are sorting through people, you are looking for entrepreneurs. If you want to increase retention in your network marketing business, market to those people who are the most likely to stay in the first place.

Content:

When Performance Management replaced Performance Evaluation in Organizations, it was going to give leadership a different definition and much more credibility and accountability to all members of a team. Instead of having little control over personal development within the organization, leaders and team members could begin to create relationships that would develop a workforce with skills needed to compete in a globalizing world. Because this approach looks towards the future rather than the past as the Performance Evaluation does, team members and leaders began to receive constant feedback from relationships, giving everyone a maximum amount of control over their own performance.

The major component of the Performance Management Process is "Coaching." There are three important steps to this process and each step seeks to answer just a few critical questions. By using coaching at every step, the team becomes more aligned with the goals of the organization.

The first step begins at the Organization's Fiscal Year where objectives are established. The basic questions to answer are:

What are we going to do? What are our goals for the next fiscal year? What needs to be developed?

During the year, team members and leaders will have follow-up discussion(s) to provide feedback on their ongoing performance and answer the following questions:

How are we doing? Are we accomplishing our goals? What are the areas for improvement? What else needs to be developed to meet our goals?

These follow-up discussions (The second step of the Performance Management Process) are aimed at improving performances in order to achieve objectives. During these discussions, the leader will coach the team members to help team members develop in areas identified at the beginning of the year (during the first step of the process) or during the actual follow-up discussions.

The third step of the process is a final discussion between the team member and the leader that will be put into writing in answering the questions:

How did we do? Did we accomplish our goals - where did we come up short? What should we concentrate on next year? The success of this approach is dependent on two conditions: the way the leader handles the coaching discussions and the commitment of both the team member and leader to improve and develop skills to meet objectives.

Effective coaching relationships between team members and leaders can improve the performance of human resources within the organization. The outcome is better performing employees producing better results.

So what do the "coaches" consider to be an effective coach? What was their definition of coaching? The one thing we knew for sure (based on years of taking surveys) is that employees need and want effective coaching on a regular basis. This was true in the past and is still the same as we gain a better understanding of coaching in the workplace for Performance Management.

Coaching is a "process" used in developing partnering relationships. I am not debating the fact that shareholders need results, I am simply suggesting that the results achieved as an outcome of an effective coaching relationship is long lasting and much more appealing to team members in today's organizations. It may even be an important strategy for the challenge in regards to keeping and attracting employees.

Based on the last two decades spent with thousands of leaders at all levels in different organizations, I have often heard the following sentence from team members: "Walk the talk" and "I will commit to doing everything I possibly can to improve my performance."

Still, many leaders experience difficulties with the Coaching approach when this program is first implemented. Their difficulties are often the result of:

Misunderstanding of the coaching approach. Too many leaders and team members still believed that Performance Management was just another name for what had been done in the past (Performance Evaluation). They were convinced this was simply a different stationary form. Therefore, discussions were still done in a top-down method i.e.: Here is what you are not doing well and here is what you will do to improve it. Now, go to it! Not very useful for helping team members and developing partnering relationships...!

Misuse because leaders using coaching concentrated on the end result rather than the process to use to obtain this result. There was little or no relationship development between team members and leaders. Talks often sounded like the ineffective coach in professional sports i.e.: A basketball coach demands to see a higher score on the scoreboard in order to win. When a player asks for feedback on how to do that, the answer is: I don't care how you do it, just do it! This results in the team members feeling manipulated. They will start to do as little as needed to keep their job. So when a new leader joins this team, the new leader is convinced that the team members were not committed. This brings to mind the term "self serving biases."

Misleading because the word "coaching" has been used in so many ways, many team members believe that it is just another way to get all the juice out of them in order to satisfy the shareholder regardless of the impact it has on human beings and ultimately the organization. Unfortunately, coaching is used to describe many different things, it was hard to be clear about it. Often, the word "coach" and "mentor" are interchanged. Some advocate that coaching is a skill needed by the boss, and others seemed to believe that coaching is a process that should be done by someone else other than the boss. coaching is a process delivered to a group of employees informally rather than individually. "Coach" is the new title for a leader.

Yet, when leaders regularly use coaching discussions effectively, it becomes very easy to determine what should be going onto the final document for the year. It is also easy to determine what the answers to the questions of the first step for the following year will be. That is true Performance Management!

Choosing A Slow-Growth or Fast-Growth Franchise

Franchise business models are an attractive business opportunity for many entrepreneurs and people looking for an independent business venture. Franchises can be startups in a fast-growth phase, or an extension of an established business that falls into the slow-growth category. In order to be successful in your franchise venture, it's important to consider the costs and benefits of both business models and see what will be a good fit for you in the long-term. Both slow-growth and fast-growth franchises have many benefits and drawbacks that appeal to some, and do not work for others. There are elements of risk, experience, and potential for growth involved when weighing the pros and cons of a slow-growth or fast-growth franchise business.

Slow-growth franchise businesses are those that require limited investment in training, startup experience, and creating business plans. Slow-growth models generally have a strong and working business plan prepared, and are looking to add locations or grow from something that already works. Slow-growth franchises succeed through their ongoing marketing efforts that have bought results in the past, and the experience of their trainers and management team. Still, the slow-growth models do have their drawbacks. They do not grow quickly, and are often in competition with similar businesses in the area. Slow-growth franchises have limited opportunities for creativity and new ideas, because they are not startups that require many fresh concepts. Because the business model has already been developed, slow-growth franchises generally have higher royalty fees as well.

Fast-growth franchise businesses are fresh startups on the market. The managers, employees, and even owners will work hard to fuel the business and get it up and running. Fast-growth franchises are starting from scratch, so the business model is a work in progress. This creates a window of opportunity for creativity and producing a new idea or concept immediately; this can lead to a higher market potential, low franchise fees, and the options to grow very quickly. Still, there are drawbacks to the fast-growth franchise business. Many of the staff and managers will be inexperienced, and this can lead to increased training and employee development costs. Since the business model isn't a proven one, there can be many setbacks and higher risks involved in investing in the business itself. In addition, the lack of brand recognition will require a strong marketing effort. Market saturation is possible, but could take time depending on the existing competition.

There are many factors to consider when choosing between a slow-growth or fast-growth franchise business, but the potential for success is equal for both. Depending on your management style and business knowledge, either model can be adapted for long-term benefits. Be sure to weight eh pros and cons of each business model, and select the franchise model that best suits your needs.

Lesson From a Millionaire Friend

Description:

Angel Low is an Online Home Business Marketer. “Learn How To Start Your Own Online Home Based Business And Earn An Extra $4,240 - $40,000 per Month By Using Simple, Tried And Proven Methods”.

Content:

I was at a Toastmasters session. (It an event where people practise giving speeches) And a friend was giving his first speech. The first speech is always to do an introduction about yourself.

He started off by stating that we must all have a vision. For him, he had a vision at the age of 15. His vision was that he wanted to be a businessman. And he always held that vision in his mind. Immediately after he finished his military service at the age of 21, he registered his first business. He achieved some success; made some money. Then he had an even greater vision. He wanted to start a public listed company from scratch!

Then a personal tragedy befell. He went into depression. His whole world crumbled to pieces before him. He gave up his business and got a job in a company. However, being the strong person he is, he managed to get out of his depression. He said that if something is your “calling”, it will come back to you. He felt that having a business was his earthly “calling”, so he quit his job and started another business.

With this business, he made his first million by the age of 27. It was also at this time that he remembered his old vision of starting a public listed company. So he put everything he had into a new business. However, a terrible financial crisis in the Asia region came and he lost everything he had. It was also soon after this that he got married.

Now, he owns one of the largest film production companies in the country.

What he did not mention specifically but was evident in everything he said, was the fact that he took ACTION.

Many of us want to achieve something whether it is something great or small. It could be for our families or for ourselves. But until you take action, nothing will happen. Things will continue to be the way it is, until you take some action.

Don’t wait any more. How long have you waited? How long have you not taken any action? How long do you want to continue delaying taking action?

If you are looking for the business opportunity to bring you closer to financial freedom, click on http://www.onlinebusinessopp.com now.

Do anything… just take some action now!

Share your Hobby With Others ~ Teach Jewelry Making Classes

Share your Hobby with Others ~ Teach Jewelry Making Classes

Our family relocated after my husband changed jobs. I left my teaching career and took some time off to get my family settled in our new community. During this time I started making jewelry as a hobby and soon found that my friends wanted me to make jewelry for them. I was overwhelmed with the response I got and found that there are many different avenues to pursue when selling jewelry. I have found many different avenues to selling jewelry, one has been through my website www.justforyoujewelry.com.

Over the past few years I have collected many email and mailing addresses for notifying my customers as to the events I will be selling which has been the key to helping my business grow.

Developing a website to sell your jewelry, selling at craft shows, holding boutiques in your home, and having others hosting jewelry shows are all ways to build your jewelry. business.

I also found that I could combine my love jewelry making with my love for teaching. Teaching community education classes, and putting on beading birthday parties have really increased my business. Some of my most popular beading classes have been ones that have been held right after school for about an hour. This summer I have been hosting Kids Beading Open Houses where the parents drop of their kids for a couple hours while I keep them busy beading. The kids have a lot of fun while the parents enjoy the break!

MLM Training - What I Learned from Listening to Recorded MLM Prospecting Calls

Early on in my MLM business I made a lot of mistakes! But I also learned how to correct them. Read on to discover what I learned from listening to my recorded prospecting calls. I attribute some of my success to this incredibly effective MLM training technique.

The definition of the word observe is: To be or become aware of, especially through careful and directed attention; notice.

Now observing what's going on doesn't just apply to being on the phone - it also applies to when you're in front of the person or for those of you who speak to groups of people, observing the people in the audience.

Observing what's going on with your prospect involves "taking notice" of what's going on with them, not just "seeing" it. How do they react to what you're saying or doing or showing them? What are they doing while you're saying something to them? What can these observations tell you?

Let's say that you're talking to an MLM prospect and you hear a baby crying or making noise in the background. Now, you know they're probably distracted by that. So, simply say, "Is that your baby I hear?" When they say, "Yes," (perhaps they even apologize for the noise) say, "Boy or girl? What's his/her name?"

Then ask, "Do you need to put the phone down and handle anything?" This will do more for establishing a good relationship than just about anything else you can say or do.

If you think about it, this is keeping right in line with the theme of being interested in the prospect and having the intention to make their life better.

Often times, a networker is so focused on presenting their opportunity or selling their product/service that they don't actually observe what's going on around them.

I remember when I first got into the MLM business I was doing a product demonstration and the prospect had three kids who were very interested in me and what I was selling. Interested in dumping the product all over the couch and all over me would be a better visual of what they were interested in.

What I really failed to observe was the children. Sure I saw them; who couldn't! But I didn't observe them per the definition I used above. If I had observed "through careful and directed attention" - I would have seen that the key to the prospect was through the children. The children were paying all this attention to me; I could have talked about and demonstrated the children's line of products!

Very often I record my conversations with prospects (you probably already know that because of the live calls you've heard on Professional Inviter) and after I'm off the phone I replay the recording and the funny thing is that I can always pick up things on the recording that I didn't pick up on during the call! After doing this several times it heightened my powers of observation. I highly recommend you utilize this MLM training secret!!

Use this MLM training technique and you'll be amazed at what additional information you can pick up on that will help you better communicate with your prospect. Fail to observe what's going on around you and you will surely miss out on important details. Becoming more observant is critical to your MLM success.
